DESCRIPTION
Weigela - this is an attractive, medium-sized shrub with an upright growing habit with external shoots that grow sideways. It grows up to 1.5 m in height. Its stems are brown-red, and it has lance-shaped dark green leaves with a reddish tinge, that blend beautifully with the flowers that blossom abundantly in June and July. These are dark purple/pink and bell-shaped. The flowers are collected in large elongated clusters.ADVICES
The plant is best planted in a sunny position, and prefers fertile soil that is free draining. The optimum pH should be neutral or slightly acidic.Immediately after flowering cut the stems, and the oldest and weakest ones shorten or remove. Young plants need to be protected for the winter - older specimens will survive the winter without protection, although in very cold winters they could be affected by frost, so then in the spring all frostbitten shoots should be removed. This plant has low susceptibility to diseases and pests.
