DESCRIPTION
Walnut is a fast growing tree. Flowering begins from late May to early June. It is ready for harvesting from late September to early October. It produces what are known as walnuts. These have spherical-oval soft green husks, with a woody intermediate layer (shell), and inside a very large edible seed. The seed is extremely nutritious, and very tasty.ADVICES
The tree is best planted in a sunny position, sheltered from wind. The plant prefers sandy loam soil, which is moderately moist, and fertile. The optimum pH is in the range of 6,7-7,2.This walnut does not require any special fertilizing or pruning. Only remove damaged or broken branches. If yellow spots appear on the leaves which later turn to brown, it is necessary to spray the tree to protect against the disease walnut anthracnose. The tree should be sprayed after the first damaged leaves appear.
