DESCRIPTION
Titania- this is a highly valued standard variety. It blooms late, which protects the flowers from frost, and yields abundantly, medium/early. The fruit ripens evenly at the end of July, and rarely fall from the tree. They are medium to large, firm, and gathered in medium clusters. The taste of the fruit is sweet/sour, and mild. This shrub is recommended especially for home gardeners, because of the high quality fruit and equally excellent taste.ADVICES
This plant is best positioned in a warm, sunny to semi-shaded place. It grows well in almost all soils, except soil that is high in calcium. The ideal soil should be light and fine, deeply dug, and rich in organic matter. The optimum pH should be in the range of 6.2 - 6.7.Please note that each currant seedling, in the form of a small tree, requires additional support. The support should reach above the crown of currants. The support stakes should be placed in the soil before planting the seedling, to ensure the currant root stock will not be damaged, which could occur if done in the reverse order. This small tree variety of currant requires proper pruning. In the first year the shoots should be shortened by about one third of the length to promote density within the crown, and restrict the size of the crown. Later, cut out the old and diseased shoots, and any shoots that are growing in the wrong direction. This small tree form should be pruned to an almost spherical shape. Also, you should remove any root suckers and shoots growing from the trunk.
