Later cut out the old diseased shoots, and canes that are growing in the wrong direction. This small tree variety should be pruned into an almost spherical shape. To promote fruiting, one, two and three year old shoots should remain. To ensure fertilization it is recommended to use compost or mineral fertilizers. Nitrogen fertilizer should be used in early spring, and potassium and phosphorus in the autumn. In dry years, the bush requires regular watering. The plant is resistant to American gooseberry mildew.
