DESCRIPTION
Roseum Elegans is an upright variety of rhododendron, growing up to 2,5 metre in height after 10 years. Elliptic, dark, evergreen leaves. Flowering occurs at the turn of April and May. Plenty of loose blossoms contain 14 to 18 wide, conical flowers with the diameter of 6 cm. Flowers are lila-pink and have a delicate brown spot on the upper petal. Considering its unique shape and resistance to frost and contamination, Roseum Elegans is recommended for extensive garden and park plantings.ADVICES
Rhododendrons prefer partly shaded and calm locations. Humus soil with acidic pH of 4 to 4.5 is perfect.
The bush should be planted in spring (from mid-March until mid-June) or in autumn (from mid-September until the end of October). The location should provide enough space to grow. The soil around the plant should be covered with a few centimetre thick layer of bark. Use organic or rhododendron dedicated fertilisers. Watering is necessary in dry periods (more than 2 weeks without rain). Withered flowers must be removed. In winter, the plant should be covered with frost cloth or spruce twigs. Rhododendrons do not require pruning - it is enough to remove broken branches or shoots damaged by frost.
