DESCRIPTION
“Excellent” is one of the most appreciated and rare lilac varieties. Large bush with wide spreading shoots, growing up to 5 m. Upright and branchy, intensively growing. Heart-shaped, dark green and shiny leaves. Provides prolific flowering in the second half of May. Large flowers with white petals and green/cream buds. Gathered in large bundles, quite often with length exceeding 30 cm. The flowers produce a pleasant sweet smell spreading over the entire garden. The “Excellent” variety may be planted in form of a tree.
ADVICES
The bush should be planted in sunny or partially shaded locations. It prefers fertile, humus soil and moderate watering. Lilac is very tolerant towards soil pH - slightly acidic, neutral or slightly alkaline pH works best. The plant is not affected by air contamination in urban areas.Before planting, put the root ball in water to soak well. Lilacs should be fertilised with compost or multi-component mineral fertilisers in spring. Dead flower heads must be removed to prevent seed formation and reduce plant load. Rejuvenation pruning of older plants is a good practice. Early spring is the best time to do it.
