Honeyberry prefers warm and sunny locations. Soil should be fertile, not to light and not to heavy, preferably permeable, with slightly acidic pH (5.5 to 6.0). Too heavy soil should be lightened with compost, mulch or sand, too light soil should be thickened with turf.Rejuvenation pruning from 4th or 5th year – cut bush to lighten and remove part of main branches. Oldest and damaged branches should be removed, as well as excess of tiny sprouts. Every two or three years, in Autumn, plants should be fertilised with composted manure and compost. Honeyberry is open-pollinated – it is most productive when it grows in the presence of other varieties of this species, blooming in the same period. A layer of mulch can be spread on the ground around the plant. It will prevent weed growth and keep proper moisture and pH of soil.
