DESCRIPTION

Maurice de Vilmorin is a variety of lilac, which grows up to 3 m in height. It has fancy, shiny, dark green leaves that are heart-shaped. It Blooms in May, very profusely. The flowers are double, large and pink/violet in colour. They give off a lovely scent, which is spread all over the garden.

The Shrub is best planted in a sunny or semi shaded position. The plant prefers fertile humus soil that is deeply dug, and moderately moist. In terms of the pH the plant is very tolerant - the soil should be slightly acidic, neutral or slightly alkaline.

Before planting, the root ball should be well soaked in water. Fertilize the lilac in spring using a compost or multicomponent mineral fertilizer. After flowering remove the faded flower clusters to ensure spectacular flowering the following year. In the case of older plants, rejuvenating pruning could be carried out. It is best done in early spring.
