Azaleas should be planted in April, in a location providing enough space to grow. This plant prefers sunny or partly shaded places, protected from wind. Soil should be moist and well-drained, humus-type with acidic pH. Place the plant at the same depth as it was in the pot. If required, add peat to adjust soil pH. Water after planting.
Azaleas should be fertilised twice a year - in April and at the turn of June and July. Use slow release fertilisers - spread them under the bush and carefully mix with the top soil layer. Water regularly - during hot periods, the plant may also be sprinkled. Water abundantly in autumn and spread a protective layer of leaves or bark around it after the first days with freezing temperatures. Generally, this plant does not require pruning. Rejuventaion pruning may be done once every few years to remove old, withered and bare shoots.
